The scholarship is offered by the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA)Program for students wishing to pursue their academic career in public policy, public administration, international affairs or a related field. Across the country, the PPIA organizes intensive study programs, partnerships with various universities and extensive alumni network to connect those interested in public service.

Available in the following states: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, California, Michigan

Award Amount     

The award amount for this scholarship is $1500. The award depends on the student’s financial need however can cover:
-Full PPIA tuition for their Junior Summer Institute program
-Travel expenses
-Stipend of up to $1500
-Housing and meal plan
-Books for JSI
-Additional benefits such as GRE preparation, must check with JSI institution
-Minimum $5000 scholarship for graduate school
-Fee waiver when applying to schools

Requirements     

-Must be a U.S citizen or legal permanent resident (some institutions accept international students)
-Must graduate between December 2016 and August 2017
-Must not have attained a Bachelor Degree before starting the Junior Summer Institute
-Must wish to attain a Master’s degree in public/international affairs at a PPIA institution
-Must demonstrate desire to have a professional career in public/international affairs
-Economic need is taken into consideration
-All academic majors are welcome to apply

Competition Level     

This scholarship earns a high competition level rating. Scholarships that are available to students across the U.S. receive this rating. Competition for these types of scholarships are normally intense and are difficult to win. If it is quick and easy to apply to, make sure to work it into your mix of your scholarship submissions. If the difficulty level is medium or high, make sure to take the appropriate time to make sure that your application and essay are solid. However, make sure that you take the time to apply to other scholarships as well. The likelihood of winning this scholarship will not be high.
